The Mediplast adhesive strips (or dovetails) are hypoallergenic and prevent wound edges from tearing and causing an unsightly scar. The suture strips are therefore used to suture small wounds and to support 'real' sutures. The dovetails are small and narrow and can be glued crosswise and tightly over the wound, so that the wound remains closed and can heal properly. In addition, the adhesive strips are highly breathable.
The Mediplast adhesive strips are elastic and stretch when swelling occurs. When the swelling subsides, the adhesive strip returns to its original shape. As a result, the wound edges remain strongly glued together at all times, which ultimately produces a beautiful cosmetic result.
